Like many of the racers I was really looking forward to this meeting as from previous experience the DXR track crew really know how to build a proper off-road track. Upon arrival I was not disappointed, the track looked awesome and I could not wait to have a go!
Saturday's format would be dedicated to practice so everyone would have lots of time to get their car dialed into the jumps. After spending the previous Monday testing in Spain I was keen to see if the progress we had made on set-ups over there would transfer to this track. Luckily for us it did. The car felt planted straight away. I was so happy with the car that I changed nothing and decided to work on my lines around the track. We ended the day feeling comfortable with the car and track and my hopes were high for the weekend.
Sunday arrived and qualifying began. There was 5 rounds of qualifying with your best three counting to give you your overall position. With 15 cars in a heat getting a clean run was very hard and the driver that managed this best by the end of qualifying was Xray team driver Ryan Donavon. I ended up in third and fellow Xray driver Matthew Perry 17th. The Xray team were all using similar set-ups and everyone was very happy with their cars.
With Ryan securing TQ he would go straight into the main final. With the rest of us needing to finish in the top 6 in our Semi final in order to move up. Both Matthew and myself managed to do this, meaning there would be three Xray's in the main.
The final started at a furious pace, and after the first few laps I had managed to get in the lead. With the car performing just as I wanted I managed to stay in control and take the win after 45 minutes of racing. Ryan finished 5th and Matthew 10th. Everyone was pleased with the result. The cars had all performed superbly.
